On March 23, Xiangtan Institute of Technology held the theme activity of “Rooted in Our Alma Mater, Bonded by Geely - Alumni Reunite in Xiangtan”, 34 outstanding alumni from diverse fields returned to the school,  recalling student days with teachers and peers, exchanging professional successes, and contributing ideas to propel the school's excellence. Prof. Yuan Libin, President of Xiangtan Institute of Technology, attended the symposium and delivered a speech. Heads of secondary colleges, functional departments and some representatives of current students attended the event and engaged in exchanges with the alumni representatives.

In his speech, President Yuan Libin extended a warm welcome to the alumni back to the school. He pointed out that the school’s  achievements stemmed from the collective efforts of faculty, students, and alumni. Alumni are the most brilliant calling card, the most unique advantage, and the most precious asset of the school. He shared  recent positive changes and accomplishments, thanks to the care and support from the provincial and municipal party committees and governments. And he introduced the school's strategy to cultivate industry-ready talent through industry-education integration. He urged alumni to stay confident, motivated, and strive for greater success in their careers. "The school will always be your strong backing  and you will always be in the thoughts of the school! We hope that alumni will come back to visit the school more often in the future!"

Representatives of alumni such as Chen Yimin, Hu Haitao, Huang Yuxiang, Xu Jiawen, Yang Juan, Zou Wenyang, Li Lu, Hu Shuiping and so on spoke at the symposium. Alumni said, “Once admitted to XIT, a lifelong member of XIT”, and the time spent studying at our school is the fastest growing and most fulfilling time in our life. In this vibrant campus, we deeply felt the strong vitality of the school's student-centered educational philosophy and the CFAP's innovative talent cultivation concept. After graduation, while being dedicated to our jobs and working hard, we always pay attention to the development and progress of our alma mater, and feel heartily happy for the thriving of our alma mater and every achievement made. In the future, we will pay attention to, care for and support our alma mater as always, keeping in mind the motto of  “Mind & Hand, Better & Best”. We will strive to be a down-to-earth and vigorous member of XIT, so as to add glory to the development of the school, and live up to the glorious identity of the members of XIT.

In order to build a bridge between the school and the alumni, the school  has appointed 34 outstanding alumni, including Zou Wenyang, as “alumni liaison officers”. President Yuan Libin issued the appointment letters of “alumni liaison officers” for them. Alumnus Li Mengxuan made a statement on behalf of the newly appointed “alumni liaison”. Li Mengxuan said he would cherish the honor and take the responsibility to be a close link between the school and the alumni, and actively play his own role to gather more power from the alumni.

“The development of the school is ever-changing, but what remains constant is the school's deep affection for education, its adherence to the implementation of the fundamental task of establishing morality and educating people, its vivid practice of the spirit of the school motto of 'Mind & Hand, Better & Best', and its full expectation of all alumni and strong alumni love! 'Towering trees have deep roots. Rolling rivers have abundant sources', and I hope that through you, the alumni who are in different parts of the world will be closely connected with the school at all times.” Dai Shugen, vice president of Xiangtan Institute of Technology, said when presiding over the symposium.

Before the event, the school organized alumni representatives to adopt trees in the “Alumni Grove” and place nameplates on trees. Accompanied by the school’s staff, the alumni visited the campus, library, ecological lake, and experienced the rapid changes of the school. During the visit, the alumni engaged in lively conversations and fondly recalled the time as students at the school.They raised their cameras to take pictures of the school's new scenery, new phenomena, expressing admiration for the school’s  flourishing development and energetic spirit.

Xiangtan Institute of Technology (XIT) is the first independent undergraduate institution in Hunan Province approved by the Ministry of Education to complete the transformation from a branch college to an independent college.The predecessor of XIT was the Beijin College of Hunan University of Technology and Business, established in 2001. In 2018, with the care and support of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee and Government, Hunan University of Technology and Business and Geely Group cooperated to establish Beijin College of Hunan University of Technology and Business. In 2019, the Xiangtan campus of Beijin College was completed and officially opened in September, welcoming its first batch of students. In June 2020, approved by the Ministry of Education, Beijin College of Hunan University of Technology and Business was transformed into an independent undergraduate institution and renamed Xiangtan Institute of Technology.In 2023 and 2024, 1,833 and 2,576 graduates devoted themselves to different parts of the country from here to build up a successful career in different fields and positions. They will be able to remarkable contributions and shining brightly in their careers.
