On February 22nd, Geely Auto Xiangtan Company held its annual summit on industry-education integration, comprehensively reviewing the progress of the twelve major projects in industry-education integration in 2022 and announcing the "Factory-Embedded School" project for modern apprenticeship in 2023. Representatives from both the academic and corporate sides, including Yuan Libin, President of Xiangtan Institute of Technology, Hunan Geely Auto Vocational and Technical College, and Geely Auto Xiangtan Company General Manager Ma Xinghua, as well as Lin Naiting, Director of Skill Talent Management at Geely Auto Group, attended the meeting.
Over the past year, the industry-education integration working group jointly established by Geely Auto Xiangtan Company, Hunan Geely Auto Vocational and Technical College, and Xiangtan Institute of Technology has achieved significant milestones. They established a pool of 18 industry-education experts, appointed eight outstanding teachers, recruited 55 dual-qualified teachers, standardized teaching processes and techniques, developed the "1+X" certification, completed 78 pre-job certified assessments, engaged 37 participants in the modern apprenticeship Spark Plan, created MAP diagrams for key positions, developed 40 specialized courses, upgraded more than 70 training instruments in four major craft training venues, and formulated talent cultivation plans for six majors, including robotics engineering, automation, and vehicle engineering. The "2022 Industry-Education Integration Twelve Major Projects" achieved a closure rate of 98%, according to Liu Lei, Manager of the Human Resources Department at Geely Auto Xiangtan Company.
During the recognition session, Chen Yimin, currently serving in the Chief Engineer's Office of the Xiangtan Base, was honored as an "Outstanding Project Manager." He graduated from Hunan Geely Auto Vocational and Technical College in 2019. In May of last year, he was responsible for planning and organizing the "Encourage the Young" automotive creative marketing competition. The competition produced 34 promotional videos that were broadcasted on official platforms and by dealers, accumulating over 300,000 views. This initiative effectively increased the local promotion and dissemination of Xiangtan Company's automotive products, enhancing the practical skills of Xiangtan Institute of Technology students in marketing planning, market analysis, and product promotion. "This year, we will continue to carry out the second season of market-oriented industry-education integration activities, providing a platform for mutual benefit, market-oriented, in-depth practice, and sustainable growth and talent development for a large number of students," said Chen Yimin.
The meeting announced the "Factory-Embedded School" project for modern apprenticeship in 2023, aiming to create a distinctive Chinese modern apprenticeship model, the "Geely" mode. Participants will undergo training in the enterprise before going to work, co-training through the "teacher-mentor" approach. During the training period, they will solidify basic skills, cultivate quality awareness, and establish correct professional values. The "teacher-mentor" mode enables rapid adaptation to the job, with the ability to improve and enhance, cultivating future craftsmen.
President Yuan Libin fully acknowledged the progress and achievements of the 2022 industry-education integration work. He emphasized that the collaboration between Xiangtan Base and the two schools has been continuously advancing. The developed projects, such as the "1+X" certificate and modern apprenticeship, have value for comprehensive promotion. Industry-education integration should achieve a win-win situation, requiring both organizational efforts from the schools and a paradigm shift from the companies. Companies should not only manage interns but also educate them, realizing the value of combining labor and education. Chinese-characteristic apprenticeship is the highest form of industry-education integration, with the core being the master-apprentice relationship and the key being the mentor's guidance. He hoped that companies would hire mentors with both virtue and talent, introduce a series of policies to build a new type of mentor-apprentice relationship, and promote the training of automotive vocational talents.
