June 9, 2024, marks the 17th International Archives Day. To enhance awareness of archives among faculty and students, foster an atmosphere of archival work, and build a bridge for communication between archives and the university community, Xiangtan Institute of Technology organized a week-long event themed "Building Dreams of Modernization, Striving as Archivists." This initiative also featured a special series titled "Ten-Year Archives for the 2024 Graduation Season."
### 1. **Building Dreams of Modernization, Striving as Archivists**
On the afternoon of June 5, Xiangtan University archivists covered 8,194 steps, visiting departments such as the Admissions Office, Library, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute, Student Affairs Office, Human Resources Office, Business School, News Center, Academic Affairs Office, School of Foreign Languages, University Office, and Finance Office to promote archival knowledge. They discussed the archival value of documents in each department and addressed questions like "What should be archived?" and "How should it be submitted?" This initiative aimed to help students and faculty gain a deeper understanding of the role archives play and experience Xiangtan University’s archival culture.
What is the value of archiving? It's about retrieving floor plans for pipe repairs in the training building, making copies of enrollment lists for civil service and military recruitment exams, borrowing accounting voucher No. 45 from June 2010, or searching for the Xiangtan University Office Document [2021] No. 2.
### 2. **Dreamy Graduation Season: Youth Never Ends**
As the first cohort of graduates left Xiangtan Institute of Technology, the archivists organized a special event titled "Dreamy Graduation Season: Youth Never Ends" to preserve the graduates' reflections on their university experience and hopes for the future. This initiative aimed to capture the essence of their four years at the university and their visions for what lies ahead.
A soccer-playing student accidentally captured in a photo became a symbol of "youth" recorded by the archivists.
A letter written long ago turned out to be a heartfelt reflection, preserved by the archivists as a piece of nostalgia.
Graduates wrote down their thoughts, dreams, promises, and best wishes for the future. The archive will store these letters and invite the students to return in ten years to open and cherish them.
### 3. **Heartfelt Messages from Graduation Advisors**
