Promoting the spirit of educators and accelerating the development of a strong education nation. On September 10, Xiangtan Institute of Technology held a ceremony in the library auditorium to celebrate the 40th Teacher’s Day and the Faculty Appointment Conference.

President Yuan Libin attended the ceremony, delivered a speech, and awarded certificates and appointment letters to honored and newly appointed faculty members. The event was attended by the entire faculty and staff and was chaired by Party Secretary Zhao Chan. Vice President Zhong Zhiping announced the Teacher’s Day awards and faculty appointments, which included recognition of 11 young teaching experts, 5 research experts, 50 outstanding mentors, 5 excellent counselors, 3 outstanding class advisors, 11 employment role models, 1 altruism role model, 1 outstanding contributor, and 40 five-star teachers. The decision also appointed 4 teachers, including Huang Wenjuan, as associate professors, and 26 teachers, including Peng Yixin, as lecturers.

Amidst enthusiastic applause, President Yuan presented certificates and appointment letters to the award-winning and newly appointed faculty members.

In his speech, President Yuan extended holiday greetings and sincere congratulations to all teachers on behalf of the university. He noted that as the country deeply implements the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, China is celebrating its 40th Teacher’s Day. Over the past 40 years, the Party Central Committee has placed great emphasis on the development of education, vigorously promoting the spirit of educators, resulting in a flourishing education landscape.

As a university, we must thoroughly implement the Party's important educational directives and embrace the responsibility of building a strong educational nation. As educators, we should uphold noble professional ideals, dedicate ourselves to nurturing qualified builders and successors for socialism with love and commitment.

President Yuan highlighted that, through the joint efforts of the entire university, Xiangtan Institute of Technology is experiencing positive growth, with increasing social recognition, reputation, and academic strength. Moving forward, the university aims to promote project-based educational reforms, cultivate CFAP innovative talents, and advance educational quality to new heights. He called on everyone at the university to unite in building Xiangtan Institute of Technology into a more dynamic, innovative, and socially influential applied undergraduate institution.

For the new academic year, President Yuan outlined three key areas:  

1. **Promote Project-Based Teaching Reform**: The university will enhance course and practical project reforms, deepen industry-education integration, and increase support for faculty research, educational reforms, and project exploration to accelerate the progress and visible outcomes of the project-based reform.

2. **Strengthen Foundational Infrastructure**: By optimizing systems, regulations, and processes, the university will empower the smoother implementation of educational work.

3. **Optimize Student Management**: Adhering to a student-centered philosophy, the university will foster a relaxed learning environment, giving students the freedom to “think creatively” and “explore boldly.” This approach aims to enhance students' confidence and courage, encouraging them to tackle real-world problems and making the university a platform for student innovation and self-expression. The goal is to cultivate a large number of outstanding talents with innovative thinking and abilities.
