Exploring Linguistics in Life with Professor Wen Lanfang

Recently, Professor Wen Lanfang, Vice Dean of the School of Foreign Languages at Hunan University of Technology, was invited to give a lecture on "Linguistics in Life" at Xiangtan University of Technology. More than 300 teachers and students attended the lecture.



In the lecture, Professor Wen Lanfang cited many real-life examples, such as the Chinese character meme "cup set", the pinyin meme "yyds", and the input popular phrase "hold live", vividly and interestingly explained the forms of language expression in daily life, allowing the teachers and students present to fully experience the joy of language learning. Her humorous and witty language created a lively academic atmosphere, and classmates participated in the lecture one after another.



Language is not only a bridge of communication, but also a carrier of thinking, expressing the relationship between people and the world. Professor Wen Lanfang has interpreted linguistics in daily life from the perspectives of language services, language and society, economy, and media.


The lecture is rich in content and covers a wide range, including many linguistic knowledge related to real and fake news, media literacy, online violence, and online life.


This lecture is both informative and entertaining. In a pleasant atmosphere, students gained an understanding of linguistic knowledge, enhanced their understanding of the study of linguistics, and stimulated their enthusiasm to explore the mysteries of language.
